I stumbled upon this little tidbit from The Chicago Tribune yesterday – how timely, considering I just posted on Sunday night about a cocktail made with Belvedere Lemon Tea Vodka.

The Chicago Tribune article talks a bit about flavored vodkas and how the introduction of flavored vodkas starting from 1960’s was a response to spice up a very neutral spirit.  In the 1960’s, we had tasteful flavors such as pepper and honey and herbs.  Fast forward to 2011, we are seeing Smirnoff Whipped Cream and Marshmallow Vodkas.  There’s even talk of a glazed donut flavored vodka in the works?
